Terms & Conditions

For the terms of this contract between The Ottoman Studio and the Purchaser any reference to ‘we’, ‘us’ and ‘our’ shall be understood to refer to The Ottoman Studio and any reference to ‘you’ or ‘your’ shall be understood to refer to the customer placing the order.


1. Product specifications and conformity

1.1 Great care has been taken to ensure that your product meets the descriptions and specifications stated on our website at the time of purchase. Please be aware that whilst conformity is of the utmost importance to us, all product measurements are approximate and may vary.
1.2 Our products have been designed to meet the BS5852 (1988) standard legislation for flame retardancy. All foam meets Crib 5 standards and our polyester wadding meets standards for a Schedule 3 Interliner for use with non-match resistant cover fabrics.

2. Fabric colour and leg finishes
2.1 We make every effort to provide accurate colour reproductions on our website but due to the nature of each individual computer screen’s colour resolution and settings there may be some variation between the colours you see online and the fabrics themselves. We would always advise that customers order fabrics samples. Due to the nature of our natural cotton fabrics there may be slight variations between samples and the fabric used on your products.
2.2 Our furniture legs are painted, varnished, sanded or stained by hand so consequently the legs on your product may vary slightly from those seen online.

3. Customer’s own fabric
3.1 If you are sending us your own fabric please discuss with us in advance of the order how much fabric will be required and send the full amount in one sheet. If it is unclear which side of the fabric should be used please specify, we cannot take responsibility for using the wrong side if not prompted by the customer.
3.2 It is the responsibility of the customer to check their fabric for any damage or inconsistencies before it is sent to us.
3.3 We will presume to be working with a fabric of a minimum of 137cm width unless otherwise notified by the client.
3.4 If pattern matching is necessary this will affect the amount of fabric we will require to work with.

4. Assembly
If our products require any amount of self-assembly you will be provided with instructions.

5. Placing an order + payment
5.1 By placing an order you are believed to have read and accepted our Terms and Conditions.
5.2 Prior to accepting your order we reserve the right to correct any errors in pricing that may have occurred. We will contact you with the corrected price and if we do not hear from you within 7 days your order will be cancelled and a refund supplied.
5.3 Once you have placed an order we will send confirmation of the details via email or post. However a contract of sale will only exist once we have taken valid payment details and accepted your order.
5.4 Full payment must be taken securely at the time of order. Payment can be made online via Paypal or by cash, cheque or BACS. Please note that there may be a delay in production time if paying by cheque as the money must clear before we will begin production.
5.5 Prices are quoted in pounds sterling (£) and sales are limited to within the UK
5.6 We reserve the right to refuse your order.

6. Right to cancel
6.1 You may cancel the purchase of any product from the ‘Ready Made’ section of our website up to the point of dispatch. If you do cancel your purchase within this time frame you will receive a full refund within 30 days. You must contact us in writing to initiate a cancellation.
6.2 We are sorry but you cannot cancel a bespoke or customised order (i.e any order where you have selected from different options to create a product specifically made for you) after the production process has been initiated. Please contact us to discuss any issues and we will do the best we can to help.

7. Returns and refunds
7.1 You have the right to initiate a return on any item purchased from the ‘Ready Made’ section of the website by writing to inform us of your wish to return the product within 7 working days of delivery (beginning the day after delivery). It is your responsibility to return the product in its original condition, if there is any damage to the product it will not be accepted and a refund will not be given. It is also your responsibility to pay for and provide safe carriage of goods if being returned and you must obtain a receipt of postage as we cannot be responsible if a return does not reach us.
7.2 We are sorry but you cannot return a bespoke or customised order (i.e any order where you have selected from different options to create a product specifically made for you).
7.3 Any faulty items or items damaged whilst in carriage may be returned. Reports of a faulty or damaged item must be sent in writing within 7 working days of delivery (beginning the day after delivery). Where possible we can either fix or refund faulty or damaged items. We will arrange a return shipment and if a defect is found you will be refunded for the cost of the item purchased. If there was any outbound shipping costs charged to you we will also refund these. Any repairs will be done free of charge.
7.4 We will not be responsible for any damage resulting from repairs or edits attempted by you or a third party.


8. Delivery
8.1 Please allow 4 – 8 weeks for delivery of customised products, bespoke products may take longer and will be dealt with on a case by case basis. Ready Made products will be delivered within 10 working days. Every reasonable effort will be made to keep to your schedule but delivery dates cannot be guaranteed.
8.2 Our couriers will deliver your product to the address you provided. They are contracted to deliver to the door but are often happy to be of further assistance. However they will not be liable for any damage to you, your product or your property.
8.3 If we are unable to deliver via safe means or you are not available to accept the delivery on your confirmed delivery slot we reserve the right to charge you for re-delivery.
8.4 As the consumer we are responsible for the goods until they reach you door. Once over the threshold they are your responsibility. If an item is damaged during delivery our liability for that damage covers only cost of the repair or refund and the delivery charge.
